There’s something about a good confidence building quote that inspires me. Anytime I read a good one, it always makes me sit a little taller, feel a little bolder, and tap into my “let’s do this thing” energy. Maybe it’s just motivational quotes in general but there’s just something that quotes about being confident does for me on a personal level.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that confidence used to be one of the things I felt I most lacked. I hardcore compared myself to others, never felt like I was good enough, and was often embarrassed to speak up. Like, avoid the fact that the barista gave me the wrong order, cover my face in photos, scared to meet new people kind of confidence level stuff.
A lack of confidence to be myself was perhaps the greatest boundary between who I thought I was supposed to be and who I actually was. A couple years ago I started a personal growth journey that unbeknownst to me at the time, led me to unlock the confident side of me… and ultimately, my true self. It’s been a journey and I continue to grow in it but the difference in the way I think about myself, carry myself, and believe in myself is a 360 turnaround kind of thing.
Tapping into my own confidence has done a couple things for me. First, it’s inspired me to empower other women to leave behind societal status quos and tap into their own confident selves as well! Second, it’s made me love a good inspirational quote about confidence!
So, in honor of both of those things, I’ve decided to share some of my favorite confidence building quotes with you below.
My hope is that they empower you to take another step towards unlocking your own self-confidence!
FYI: In case you fall in love with any of these quotes, I’ve created a file with each quote as a phone wallpaper for you to download free! Plus, there are ten extras you won’t find anywhere else in there as a special gift from me! You can grab them at the end of this post.
10 Inspirational Quotes About Being Confident
1) If someone is judging you, that’s their problem. Don’t make it yours. – Mel Robbins.
I love this quote for self confidence! I think one of the biggest barriers to feeling confident in ourselves is our fear of being judged negatively for it. It was probably one of the hardest things I had to come to terms with during my journey to unlocking my own self-confidence. Accepting that I can’t control what others think (and some people will think negative things no matter how hard you to please them) was a very liberating thing for me.
2) I am enough.
This confidence building quote is a big one for just about everyone. I guarantee even the most confident people have at some point dealt with the feeling that they were not good enough. Each of us is so uniquely talented in our own way, I’m now happy when I see someone who is more talented than me at something because it means that they are living for something they love. Today, I encourage you to stop comparing other’s unique abilities to your own and instead be confident in what makes you unique! Also, in case one else has told you today, let me be the first to tell you… you are enough.
3) The only person I need to compare myself to is my yesterday self. – Allison Sue
This is one of those confidence-building quotes for women that I started spreading around myself. Here’s the thing, we all have a desire to be better, to be the best, to be wonderful. However, when we’re comparing ourselves to others, we limit our ability to tap into our greatest strengths and instead become discouraged by the progress we see in other people’s lives. The issue with this is that it’s really impossible to monitor our personal growth by looking at someone else’s progress. The only way we can get better is by comparing our today self to our yesterday self. That is true growth comparison. That is something you can feel confident about.
4) Admire her beauty without questioning yours. – Jenna Kutcher
This quote about confidence is one of my favorites. So often I see women doubt themselves as a result of just seeing someone else appear confident and beautiful. We get this idea that someone else’s beauty and confidence somehow cancels out our own when that is the furthest thing from the truth. The world’s capacity for beauty and confidence is not fixed. Someone else increasing in beauty and confidence does not mean you must decrease in it. So go ahead, admire someone else’s beauty, grace, and confidence while you enjoy taking ownership of your own.
5) Insecurities are loud. Confidence is silent.
This is one of those “sum it all up” quotes about being confident. To me, it means that when we’re insecure about something, we feel the need to justify, protect, and exclaim our worth. We do so in verbal fights with a random stranger whose own insecurities and bad day brought about unnecessary and most likely untrue words against us in the grocery store. It takes place on social media when someone disagrees with something we post. Our words give it voice when we put another woman down to make ourselves feel better.
Oh but, confidence… Confidence is silent. It gives no value to the words of the stranger in the grocery store. Confidence allows for difference of beliefs on social media. And, perhaps, most importantly, it silences the judgemental thoughts because when you are confident in yourself, you let others be confident in themselves, whether you agree with it or not.
6) My Dreams Matter.
Sometimes we need quotes to build self confidence in our ability to go after our dreams and that’s just what this one does. It’s as simple as you can get but often so forgotten. Even ignored due to years of disappointment and distractions. Every single human has a dream inside of them. Unfortunately for many people, it gets buried and locked away with their confidence. So while you’re unlocking your confidence, be sure to pull out that dream while you’re at it!
7) Life isn’t meant to be perfect. It’s meant to be lived.
This quote on confidence is powerful to me because I used to get so caught up on making sure things were so perfect or appeared perfect that I would totally miss out on living in and enjoying the moment. Isn’t that the irony of it though? We work our hardest to make things as good as we possibly can, only to miss out on the good. For me, it was 100% a lack of confidence thing. I needed everyone to see how perfectly I could pull an experience together because I thought if something wasn’t perfect, that it reflected on me as a person. These days, I’m letting go of my perfectionism and swapping it out for confidence in my desire to enjoy life.
8) Don’t make yourself small so others feel more comfortable. – Rachel Hollis
I’ve got to be honest, this quote on confidence is one that reaches into the depths of my soul. I did this for so long. I made myself feel small to make other people feel more comfortable. No matter the situation, no matter who it was, I put someone else’s comfort, ahead of my own self-worth. I believed that because I was in the room, it was somehow my responsibility to make others feel better. To make myself small so that they could feel better. If you do this too, I want to tell you that you are not worth less than the other people in the room. You don’t need to make yourself small so that others feel more comfortable.
This quote is from Rachel Hollis’ book Girl, Wash Your Face and I’m not even ashamed to admit that when I read this part of the book, I cried. I cried hard. Like ugly cried… and a little piece of me was set free. A little part of my confidence unlocked.
9) The world needs who you were made to be. – Joanna Gaines
Remember that dream inside every person speech I gave a few minutes ago? Well, this confidence-building quote perfectly explains why. Every one of us has a dream and it’s probably fair to say that the majority of people’s dreams have to do with making positive change. The world would be a truly better place if every person made that positive change a reality. So, if you’re not sure you can do it for yourself, consider unlocking your confidence for the world.
10) Watch me.
For all those naysayers out there, I say to them… watch me. Wait until you see what I can do. It’s not about rubbing it in people’s faces, being rude, or nasty to them. No, this quote for confidence is about feeling empowered to believe in yourself. To not let the negative voices get to you. It’s my answer to doubt. Both from myself and others. It’s my final words before I ride off into the sunset, my battle cry, my mantra. It’s my promise to the world… I will fulfill my dreams. Watch me.
I hope these quotes bring you as much joy and encouragement as they did for me when I was putting them together! I hope they inspired you to take a baby step towards unlocking your own confidence.

“The world needs you who you were made to be.” This is soooo powerful and it such an important statement that I wish others knew! We each have so much to offer the world even if we don’t think so at the moment. Unlocking that potential and finding out what that potential is is what it’s all about. Loving this!
